Donegal County Museum World War I Exhibitions Run Extended

WW1 Exhibition

Due to its popularity, Donegal County Museum’s major exhibition ‘Remembering World War I’- The Donegal Story, is being extended to the end of April 2015. This ground floor exhibition tells the story of World War I through the experiences of Donegal Men and Women at home and abroad. Donegal men and women not only served the British Forces but with countries all over the world including Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Canada and America.

In the Upstairs Gallery, there are 2 other WWI exhibitions on display including a room full of individual stories of Donegal Men in WWI including Jimmy Duffy’s exhibition ‘FORGOTTEN SONS’ - Remembering Lower Rosses Men Who Fought in the WWI and an exhibition by the Donegal Intercultural Platform looking into the stories of African, Asian and American (north and south) soldiers who fought in WWI.

Donegal Men were some of the first to join the Australian Imperial Force and the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, which became known as ANZACS. Donegal County Museum is currently researching Donegal Men who joined these Forces and asks if anyone has information or memorabilia on those men who served with these forces.

Schools and groups are welcome to visit and we have designed an accompanying work booklet for the exhibition.

Admission is free and the exhibition runs until the end of April 2015.
